The Pont du Gard
40 minutes from Villa Ragazzi
World Heritage Site
2,000 years ago, over a period of 5 years, more than 1,000 people worked on the construction of the Pont du Gard. The aim was to bring water to the city of Nîmes via a 50 km long aqueduct.
Since that time, the world has been in awe, as walkers, strollers, lovers, poets, budding painters, organised travellers and Sunday explorers from near and far have circled around it...
Today, the story continues and visitors continue to flock to the site. The monument, a World Heritage Site, is now set in 165 hectares of natural Mediterranean landscape.
The site tells its story and offers activities and discoveries for all.
